  • Abstract: The GEDICAM project addresses the challenges of digitising and modelling the water cycle in order to provide new mechanisms that can be adopted to optimise its operation, simulate its behaviour, generate new scenarios (e.g. drought or water shortages), and prevent their potential consequences. As part of the project, a digital twin of a desalination plant will be created, taking into account both its internal workings and external factors, to virtually replicate the plant’s operation and performance. To this end, an innovative approach will be adopted to model the main components of the water cycle and external factors; guided by the causal relationships and properties between them, this will result in a set of interoperable agents and a multi-agent system capable of modelling the complex functioning of this process.
